NEIBA
Exchange is
a free service for members to post classified industry-related
ads on an Internet site that is known to and viewed
by people in the bookselling and publishing industries. The
NEIBA website uniquely captures two variables, industry
and location, that define the market for labor, goods
and services of bookstores in New England.
The Exchange,
for example, uses the regional and industry focus
of the NEIBA site to advertise bookstore job openings
in a very targeted way to the most likely prospects,
New Englanders in the book business. Publishers
seeking to fill positions with persons having retail
bookselling experience also benefit from its targeted
reach.
NEIBA members,
publishers and booksellers, are free to post classifieds
for help wanted, positions sought and for re-selling
goods and services such as used fixtures, inventory,
surplus supplies and other items that bookstores
may wish to purchase from other stores.
Postings are
free to members. NEIBA will not sell space on the
NEIBA Exchange.
Non-members
wishing to post classifieds must contact NEIBA Executive
Director Rusty Drugan at rusty@neba.org for
permission. Only postings that might potentially
benefit members such as “bookstore wanted” or “help wanted” or “positions wanted” will
be permitted.
The NEIBA Exchange
is not intended for marketing titles from publishers
or for other vendors such as wholesalers or fixture
companies to market their goods and services to bookstores.
It is, rather,
a clearinghouse for members to reach each other with
information about jobs, stores for sale or purchase
and re-selling merchandise or goods already purchased
as when stores close and offer their inventory and
fixtures to other stores.
Postings by
NEIBA members on the NEIBA Exchange first require registration
of the store or firm that is a member.
Click on the "Register" button
for NEIBA Exchange and follow the instructions. Once registered,
members can post offerings as frequently as they
wish. Each member is solely responsible for the accuracy
of its postings.
The NEIBA Exchange
and the New England Booksellers Association are not
responsible for any errors. To keep the site up to
date, members must renew their postings every week
or every two weeks, your choice.
The NEIBA listserv
will no longer post individual classifieds from members
as they arrive. Instead, every Friday, all the classifieds
received at the NEIBA Exchange during that week will be collected
and sent out to the members via the listserv, along
with a link to the Exchange for those who wish to
see what else is still available.
Members still
receive the listserv benefit of a timely email announcement
but now their classifieds are also featured on the
NEIBA website for non-members to view.
